Shadows of the Lost Sun

Shadows of the Lost Sun (The Map to Everywhere, #3)Shadows of the Lost Sun by Carrie Ryan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Boy, I’ll tell you what, this series keeps throwing me for a loop. I need to read the last book ASAP. I’m glad we get a satisfying backstory for Fin’s family. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t that.

I think by this point, one of my favorite characters is Marrill’s babysitter. That girl is devoted to her job. She may be confused sometimes, but she knows how many kids are supposed to be on the ship. Plus, her with Coll just makes me happy. Her character development has been wonderful to read. It really makes me wonder what is going to happen in the last book, not just with her, but with all the characters. Some of them are from the crazy world they are navigating, but the two girls are not. Are they going to be able to get home? Even if they can, will they actually go?

It’s a good thing book four is already out, I hate having to wait for my questions to be answered.

I would put this series as higher middle-grade. What I mean, is that there is a lot going on and a lot of word play that those at a higher reading level will enjoy. Readers not quite to that point will still enjoy the story, they may just miss some little details. As far as I’m concerned, as long as a reader has reached larger chapter books, they will enjoy this series. Heck, I’m in my 30s and thoroughly enjoying myself.
