Skulduggery Pleasant

Skulduggery Pleasant (Skulduggery Pleasant, #1)Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Honestly, this series, it is in a class of its own. It has a ton of dry humor that I enjoy. The relationship between Skulduggery and Valkyrie/Stephanie is great. Skulduggery tries to act important, and Valkyrie just knocks him down, over and over.

In this first book, it’s easy enough to keep all of the characters separate. It gets more complicated as the series goes on, so I would recommend paying attention from the beginning.

I like how those with magic have their own specialties and abilities. It makes it so the reader has a harder time predicting what will happen. When everyone is able to do the same thing, it’s easy to see where things are going. In this series, Tanith, China, Skulduggery, all of them fight and use magic in their own special ways. It makes it so each character has a purpose and they are not just fillers for the main two.
