Two books in, and I have no clue what to think of Briar Rose. Most of the time she seems like the bad guy, and then she does something good just to mess with everyone’s heads. Maybe she is a level one baddie, Deeb is a level two, the Gray Phantom is a level three, and pretty much anyone visiting Deeb is a level 100. She’s not good, but compared to others, she might as well be.
I’m glad Lila had a larger role. Pretty sure she could run circles around the “heroes”. How they manage to actually accomplish anything is kind of a miracle. She at least gets things done. Even Ruffian the Blue is impressed by her.
All in all, a good sequel. I think if the books keep going this way, I will enjoy reading the rest of them.
