This book covers some deep stuff. Part of me thinks that it should have been geared towards teens, but another part of me realizes that there are younger kids that are dealing with some of the same issues as Maverick, and it is important for them to have a voice.
For me personally, this book fell flat, but I think it could be very important to the right audience. Those kids who are dealing with family and school issues can read how Maverick takes what has been given to him and works to become something more. I can see it giving them hope for something better.
