The Homework Machine

The Homework MachineThe Homework Machine by Dan Gutman
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This story is one that I think most kids can relate to. Let’s be honest, who didn’t want a machine to do their homework when they were in school. I want a machine to do my work now. That’s the ultimate dream right?

The kids quickly find out the difference between dream and reality, which I appreciate. Even though the book is for younger readers, I like that it is not just one of those stories where they stumble upon some great thing that makes their lives wonderful and they never have to worry again. Instead, these kids find that they have to struggle more because of the machine.

I have to say, there were parts that reminded me of all the talk of AI taking over the world and thinking for themselves.

It’s a good read, but one that I feel doesn’t read as well to an older audience. For kids just getting into reading longer books, this is a great choice.
